Chorro los Algarrobos
Chicá, Chame
Hello my fellow adventure geeks!

Ok guys, so this is a tricky one to get to, so be sure to pay close attention. I will try and give you the best possible step by step guide on how to get to this beautiful location. On your way there, you have to pay attention to your surroundings in order to spot the reference points that I will give you, so keep your eyes open!
So…let’s get started! This beautiful waterfall is located in Altos de Campana National Park. As I always say, the safest way to get anywhere here in Panama is by using Waze. Be sure to put “Altos de Campana National Park” to have that 100% guarantee on your journey there. Waze will take you the fastest way there which will either be through the Puentes de las Americas or the Puente Centenario. Either bridge will get you there without a problem, so no worries.
The journey in the car will you take you approximately about 2 hours as the distance is around 100 km, and once you reach the entrance of Altos de Campana you will start going up a pretty steep and long hill. For those worried about what type of car you should take, because here it is sometimes hard to know if you can take a car without the 4 by 4 wheel drive, but for this trip you can take any type of car without a problem!
Now, when you are arriving to the entrance of Altos de Campana, you will have to exit right where you will see a HUGE YELLOW sign with the name of the national park. Here you will begin to ascend Altos de Campana. Ok, now here is the part where you have to pay VERY close attention.
On your way to Chorro Los Algarrobos you will pass by a few reference points. The first one you will pass is the National Park Fee booth, which is a medium sized yellow house on your left hand side. You do not have to pay any fee to go to El Chorro Los Algarrrobos. Then you will pass by the first look-out module, which I highly recommend to stop by as it has a great view, and when I say great, I mean EXCELLENT, and great for pictures too.
After you pass by this first look-out module you will continue to ascend to the top of the hill and after a few minutes you will start to notice that you are entering a small town. Don’t worry, this is a good thing. You have now entered the town of Chicá, now you need to be on the look out for the following reference points I am about to give you. First, you need to pass by the public school of the town, you will notice this blue school as it is pretty easy to detect.
Once you have passed by the school you will have to drive for a few more minutes until you reach a “Y” intersection, where you will find a small house with the name “Yolandita”. To the left of the house you will see a small path, which is the one that you will have to go on. When I got to this small house I parked my car to the side of the entrance without a problem. Park your car to the side and you are ready to go.
So, begin your journey by walking down the path next to the “Yolandita” house. Afterwards, you will soon arrive to a small bridge with a sign saying “Si cuidamos nuestras quebradas conservaremos nuestros tesoros”. Meaning, if we take care of our waterfalls we will conserve our treasures, so please to adhere to this sign :). Cross the small bridge and continue with your journey.
Pay close attention to your beautiful surroundings as you will be able to see some great views and landscapes. Throughout this journey you will also encounter many “Y” intersections, when you do reach them make sure you always go the left side as it is the easiest and fastest way. The entire journey will take you about 45 minutes to get to the main waterfall (as you will see a series of small falls along the way).
Hopefully you have reached your destination by now, a beautiful and private little waterfall in the middle of the forest. This is the best part about this waterfall, there will probably be nobody there, so take advantage of your own prive waterfall. So, move on and jump into your bathing suit! Oh yes, you can definitely jump in! The water is a bit chilly, but so refreshing. Enjoy!
